The report examines some of the more subtle ways in which government officials interfere with media freedom and editorial independence in Argentina. The report found an entrenched culture of pervasive abuse by government officials who practice "indirect censorship" by using advertising resources and regulatory power as carrots or sticks to manipulate the media for political and personal purposes whether it is to inappropriately influence content or bankrupt an annoying publication.
